1. Protection of our Indigenous Medicinal plants and developing the entrepreneurs in Thoothukudi District

As a NGO working for Eco development in Tamil Nadu, we are doing this project in five villages of Tuticorin Dist with the CSR of Sterlite Industries India Ltd. With the support of Mr.Lovish, Mr.Rajasekarapandian, Ms.Suganthi, and Ms.Sarala the project is ongoing. The Project villages are South Veerapandiyapuram, Saminatham, Meelavittan, Pandarapatti and North Silukkanpatti.
Interested farmers were selected and village level activities were done through them.
  • Participating Rural Appraisal was done in all the five Villages.
  • Cultural Awareness programmes in all the five villages.
  • Two SHG members training were Conducted
  • One Youth training programme was organized.
  • Involving children in ‘Herbal conservation’ through formation children Assembly.
  • Preparatory guide on Medicinal plants.

2. PWD – TN -IAMWARM Project

Water Resource Management Programme:
Arumbugal with the water resource organization, Environmental cell division of Public works departments, Government of Tamil Nadu did the water resource management programmes in Nishabanathi and Kalingalar sub Basin areas of Tirunelveli District. The following programme done by Arumbugal Trust, Tirunelveli and the programmes were supported and monitored by Mr.M.Selvaraj EE, Mr.Ayubkhan EE, Mrs.Caroline Rajasingh AEE, Mr.Ayyamperumal AE, and Mr.Jawahar AE of PWD.

3. MORD / SGSY / NIIT / ARUMBUGAL TRUST

ASHA Project: Ministry of Rural Development (MoRD) has envisioned the scheme SGSY (Swarna Jayanthi Gram Swarrozgar Yojana). It has structured provision for creating special projects for skill development to enable the rural BPL youth to get wage employment. NIIT has been India’s number one ranked training and educational company for the past 27 years. NIIT has been awarded this project to train rural BPL youth across India. In Tamil Nadu with support of NGO’s it implements the project in Tirunelveli District, Arumbugal as a remarkable steps, are to fight against poverty and employment in the rural areas. Our target was to identify the right candidates and train them to get employed in the next two to three months. The candidate will be provided a enclosed certificate which has a strong brand value in the market spall and will be a lifelong asset. We created a strong placement Network for them so as to place our candidate in suitable jobs. The Programme was Monitored and guided by Ms.Meena & Ms.Lalitha from NIIT Chennai.

Major activities and achievements:
  1. Through information education and communication materials ,the training details were disbursed to the SHG women, community leaders and youth in the villages.
  2. Eligible below poverty line members were identified and through screening test ASHA beneficiaries were selected.
  3. From November 2010 to March 2011, we had conducted two batches of training for 67 students out of which 50% of them were placed in different sectors and placements are going on.
  4. Through this, their economic conditions and personality were improved. Many men and women have earned to be ‘Breadwinners’ of their family.
